How to get a LinkedIn video transcript
Native LinkedIn video is written off too quickly. Most of it is a talk with no write up attached.
LinkedIn rewards video but punishes anyone who wants to read instead of watch. A five minute native video post carries the same content as a decent article, and none of it is indexed, searchable or quotable. Drop takes a public post link, transcribes the audio and reshapes it into the written form the post never had: core ideas, a remember list, and a draft you can publish as a follow up text post the same day.
Steps
Step 1
Copy the post link
Use the three dot menu at the top right of the post, then Copy link to post. That gives you the stable feed update URL rather than a scroll position.
Step 2
Confirm it is public
Posts set to connections only are not reachable. Open the link logged out to check before dropping it.
Step 3
Paste it into Drop
Drop it into the input and press Drop it. LinkedIn videos are typically short, so results come back quickly.
Step 4
Turn the talk into a written post
Use the LinkedIn remix draft, tighten the first two lines yourself, and attach a quote card from the studio.
What you get
- A full transcript of the native video
- Core ideas rewritten as clean sentences
- A remember list of the claims and numbers
- Quote cards styled with your own brand colors and logo
- A LinkedIn post draft plus X and Instagram versions
Questions
- Does it work on documents or carousels?
- No, those carry no audio. Paste their text into Drop as raw material and you will get the same ideas and remix output.
- What about a video shared from YouTube into LinkedIn?
- Use the original YouTube link. A reshared embed points back at the source anyway.
- Can I transcribe a LinkedIn Live replay?
- Yes if the replay stays on a public post. Long replays use the extended job window.
- Is the transcript good enough to publish?
- The raw transcript is verbatim, filler and all. Publish from the core ideas and the remix draft, which are written to read like a person wrote them.
