How to get a Facebook video transcript
Public video, public Reel, or a page post. Copy the link and get the words.
Facebook video is where a lot of long form community content still lives: local council meetings, church talks, training sessions, founder livestreams. None of it is searchable, and Facebook's own auto captions are not exportable. Steps
Step 1
Open the video on its own page
Click the video so it has its own URL, then use the three dot menu and Copy link. A link copied from inside the feed scroller sometimes points at the feed rather than the video.
Step 2
Check it is public
Open the link in a private browser window. If it loads without a login prompt, Drop can read it.
Step 3
Paste and drop it
Put the link in the input and press Drop it. Long streams keep polling in the background until the transcript lands.

Use the core ideas and the remember list to write the recap, and pull quotes for the social post.

- Why is a friends only video rejected?
- Anything behind a login is unreachable. Download the video from Facebook and upload the file to Drop instead.

- Yes. Long recordings use the extended job window and are billed by the minute like everything else.
- Does it work on videos in a private group?
- No. Group content is gated. Upload the downloaded file if you have permission to use it.
